Description
A true story of a young boy, of Indian descent, growing up in 1960s’ racist southern Africa during the Apartheid rule. His father, after being persecuted, uproots the family and leaves South Africa for Zambia. Here the twelve year old goes to a school that, until the previous year, was for white children only – and so fights his own battles on the racist front, in their new ‘free’ land.
After winning all battles, there is a twist of fate. His parents send him to his grandparents’ care in South Africa, believing the education there to be suited to the promise he showed as their budding future ‘Doctor’. After covering up his non-performance at school, enduring unsympathetic relatives and missing his family, he hatches and carries out a daring plan of escape.
